WordPress Related Posts: Using WordPress Toolset and WP Posts to Posts – Shortcode Alert

If you read my previous post,  WordPress Custom Related Posts: Toolset Plugin & Posts 2 Posts – Combining APIs for even more flexibility, I discussed how combining  Toolset with thePosts 2 Posts plugin creates an easier WordPress related posts interface for the website administrator to create content relationships.  Four Eyes is currently working on a new website for David Keil’s YogAnatomy.com and the site needed a method for connecting content types to one another in an easy and efficient manner.  While we created a solution for Single Post pages, we still needed to be able to use the code in loop while using Toolset.  The solution is a shortcode function that combines the power of the Views API with the enhanced query structure of the Post 2 Posts plugin. /* Toolset to Post 2 Posts View Integration */ add_shortcode( ‘get-related-view’, ‘get_related_view’ ); function get_related_view( $atts ) { extract( shortcode_atts( array( ‘my_post_id’ => ”, /*insert …

WordPress Custom Related Posts: Toolset Plugin & Posts 2 Posts – Combining APIs for even more flexibility

WordPress Custom Related Posts, this is one of the biggest issues; creating a custom related post with a custom formatted layout. Even to a seasoned developer this is a complicated and time-consuming endeavor.  In the past, we have used tools like Toolset, but even this had its limitations. The Toolset approach is to link to post types via a third post type that linked the other two types.  This is an easy concept if you understand data relationships, however, it made a three step process and it is not very efficient. Four Eyes is currently working on a new website for David Keil’s YogAnatomy.com.  The current website, built by Four Eyes, is a rich combination of  web design and web development approaches to enhance the user’s experience.  The new website, to be launched soon, will take this vision further.   YogAnatomy.com needed a method for connecting content types to one …

Demetri Kofinas is a technology and media entrepreneur, as well as the creator and former executive producer of a popular international finance television news program broadcast in over 100 countries around the world. DemetriKofinas.com is an example that a small website goes a long way.  As a media personality, Demetri needed a micro website design to showcase who he is and what he does. A website does not need to be large and complicated to share its message, an eye-catching image and solid content do the trick. Of course, in Four Eyes fashion, we did go an extra step and integrate a blog with legacy articles.  Demetri has written 100’s of articles over the years and with so much more to share, a blogging platform was key.   Demetri has a fascinating story to tell about his life, you can read more about it here. I have known and worked with Michael, at Four …
